Terms & conditions

The basis on which we quote for and carry out work, and how this website may be used.

About these terms

These terms apply to the use of this website and to quotations and work provided by RJS Electrical, a sole trader business operated by Richard Smith. They do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Quotations

Quotes are free and are based on the information available at the time, including any site visit. Where hidden conditions come to light once work begins — concealed cabling, structural issues or an installation that differs from what was described — we will stop, explain the position and agree any change in scope or price with you before continuing.

Unless stated otherwise, a quotation is valid for 30 days and excludes work not listed in it.

Carrying out the work

  • Work is carried out in accordance with current British Standards and applicable regulations.
  • Notifiable and certifiable work is tested on completion and the relevant certification is issued to you.
  • We need safe, reasonable access to the working areas and to your electrical supply, plus agreement on any necessary interruptions to power.
  • Making good — plastering, decorating and tiling — is not included unless it is specifically stated in your quotation.

Payment

Payment terms are confirmed in your quotation. Larger projects may be invoiced in stages. Materials remain our property until paid for in full.

Cancellation

Where you engage us as a consumer away from our business premises you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days. If you ask us to begin work within that period and then cancel, we may charge for work already carried out and materials already ordered.

Guarantees and liability

Our workmanship is guaranteed, and equipment supplied carries the manufacturer's own warranty. We are fully insured. We are not liable for pre-existing defects in an installation that fall outside the scope of the work quoted, nor for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Complaints

If something is not right, tell us first — email richard@rjselectricalcheshire.co.uk or call 07990 844234 and we will put it right wherever we reasonably can.

Website use and governing law
